What is scarier than Halloween candy?

Halloween, and holiday seasons in general, can feel scary if you don’t trust yourself around food. I’m here to say: it doesn’t have to be that way!

What is scarier than Halloween candy?

  • Increased anxiety from fearing foods leading to slowed digestion

  • Restricting foods then binge eating them and losing trust in yourself around food

  • Living a life in fear of food in social situations and holidays

  • Believing you have to do this all on your own

If you find yourself scared around holiday foods, desserts, sweets, read on for some actionable tips to move away from fear with food:

  • Instead of limiting scary foods, try incorporating them into your weekly (or daily) routine. Normalize them and eat them alongside other foods.

  • Focus on making most of your meals complete and balanced (complex carbs, protein, added fats, fiber).

  • Enjoy your desserts and sweets and other social foods. They are not “bad” and you are not bad for eating them.

  • If you do end up overeating, it is okay! Please see my other post on binge eating.

  • Work on developing body trust and truly trusting yourself around foods.

🎃Happy Halloween! May your day be filled with more treats than tricks. 🎃
